Nlo Yōn Ner

Nlo Yōn Ner (/nlo/ /joːn/ [turquoise] [bottle]) is a subtropical Town located in the I̽lökri̽ Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Nlo Yōn Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Nlo Yōn Ner was founded by Trèdsm Tastri, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Nlo Yōn Ner has a yearly average temperature of 18°C (64°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 27°C (80°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Nlo Yōn Ner receives an average of 152 cm/y (59 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Nlo Yōn Ner covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 2922 m (9586 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Nlo Yōn Ner was founded durring the late 16th century in summer of the year 1472, by Trèdsm Tastri. The establishment of Nlo Yōn Ner was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Trèdsm Tastri electing to pay people to resettle in Nlo Yōn Ner.

Nlo Yōn Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Nlo Yōn Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Nlo Yōn Ner is is constructed arround a semi-circular broad cobblestone mainstreet, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town posesses a mighty albit amaturly crafted stone wall. It was built using querried stone blocks and posesses all of the standard defencive features, including a few watch towers. While it would last against a siege, the wall's outdated and simplistic construction method percludes the possability of Nlo Yōn Ner weathering a full scale bombardment durring a siege. The budget focused millitary grade defenses have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around Nlo Yōn Ner seems to be home to a quite vibrant and boisterous community. Everywhere one looks they can see people going out their daily business with a smile and a spring in their step. Children play loudly in the streets, causing untold havoc as youth are want and allowed to do.

Civic Infrastructure

Nlo Yōn Ner has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Nlo Yōn Ner.

Nlo Yōn Ner has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Nlo Yōn Ner has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Nlo Yōn Ner has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Nlo Yōn Ner's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Nlo Yōn Ner has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Nlo Yōn Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Nlo Yōn Ner is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Nlo Yōn Ner's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

In Nlo Yōn Ner rain occurs in reverse with water pooling up from the earth then falling into the skies to from clouds, this unsettles every visitor that sees it.

The Vapor Wasp near Nlo Yōn Ner are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Nlo Yōn Ner's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves sacrificing an animal to channel Wild Magic energies of tier 3 via chanting.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. While private tutelage of worthy apprentices can be had even in most remote villages, Nlo Yōn Ner is home to a proper school dedicated to teaching magic. Such schools are usually small, with no more than a few dozen pupils, most of whom will fail for lack of talent or discipline. The instructors are rarely first-rate, usually serving only for the pay and status, but sometimes a genius sorcerer will find a reason to observe likely apprentices here. Given the unfortunate accident potential of the school, it’s probably isolated or well-fortified.

Nlo Yōn Ner is known for its well built pedestrian paths, which include foot bridges to cross the main street at several high-traffic areas.

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami spared the town a natural disaster. One of Nlo Yōn Ner's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
